Virtual Set: 6.3 Mercenaries – Details
Posted by Rogue4 @ 8:58am Thursday, February 18th, 2010 [ permalink ]
As many of you know (or may have guessed) the planned February virtual set has been pushed back to a March 15th 2010 release date (tournament legal 14 days later). Furthermore, for reasons detailed below, it has been renamed Virtual Set 6.3: Mercenaries. (Virtual Set 7.1: Galaxy At War has been pushed back to the next early summer release.) The 6.3 virtual set pdf will consist of between 30-40 cards and will be available for download March 15th.
Also, the Competitive Balance Team has been hard at work and will be releasing their very first set of meta changes accompanying the release of virtual set 6.3. Players can look forward to changes like a once-more playable Raltiir Operations and a less abusive Hidden Base (V) objective!
The SWCCGPC Design and Development Team set its immediate design goals for the pre-MPC environment to re-establishing an open and balanced meta as its top priority, and as such, felt it necessary to address this further before introducing any major new themes to the game.
Also, we have 18 player cards slated for this set. Our Development and Playtesting teams have evaluated these cards and feel that they will bring some exciting new options to our card game while at the same time, helping to resurrect a few decks that haven’t been seen at the tournament tables lately.
We have some really exciting cards coming for you guys, which range from small helpers for Mystril, BHBM, WYS (V), and WHAP (V) to powerful new darkside space options, and meta cards to help balance out the likes of Luke SITF, icestorm/sandwhirl, WYS and more. There should also be some fanboy love in the forum of some EU material. Heck even DS cloud decks are getting a new card!
We hope that you are as excited as we are about the upcoming release of V6.3, scheduled for March 15th. These cards will be legal for competitive play on March 29, 2010, which means that this year’s Match Play Championships in Philadelphia, PA will be your first major opportunity to test these cards in tournament play. Be sure to pre-register for the 2010 MPC and reserve your spot today!
Keep your eyes peeled in the coming days for upcoming “spoilers” and marketing contests! Thanks for your continued support in helping to make Star Wars CCG the best game alive!

#2 – An Election!
As part of restoring the Competitive Balance Team, the PC decided that we wanted to give the community at large a greater say in managing the ever-shifting meta. After a long and substantial deliberation, we settled on opening the last two spots of the CBT to a public vote. We have narrowed down the field to the 7 candidates who presented the strongest applications and now we’re leaving the final choice up to YOU! Everyone can vote for up to 3 candidates and the two candidates with the most votes will make it on the final team. Voting will end January 15th at midnight pacific time.
So here is how it’s going to work:
The only people eligible to vote will be registered forum users who have an account registered before 12/20/2009.

Click here to get the latest virtual set!
* Cards will be Tournament legal December 21st.
* Rebel Fleet has been pushed back once again due to further undesired interactions that D&D picked up which has warranted more time in development. As Miyamoto says, “it will be released when it is done.”
* This set is part of Block 6. The next set will start Block 7.
* As far as I know the Holotable updates have been done. They should be up today from what I’ve heard, but I can’t say for certain.

Virtual Set Release Date revision(s)
Posted by Rogue4 @ 9:27am Thursday, November 5th, 2009 [ permalink ]
Revision of Virtual set 7 release changes:
The PC has decided to push back the main release of Virtual set 7, Block 1: Galaxy At war to a targeted February release date. Block 2 is tentatively scheduled towards a release around May/early summer and will be the last big virtual release of cards before worlds 2010. Each of these two block releases will be large sets similar in size and focus on the overarching themes of Galaxy at War, Skywalkers, Imperial March, and Rogue Squadron.
The 12/7 virtual card release will now be a continuation of the V6: Reflections IV block. This set will be ~25 cards total and will focus primary on adjusting the meta balance between the sides of the force and addressing some of the situations/holdovers left over from the Revolution/ mass errata. This set will hopefully address many of the important issues and concerns that have been brought up by the community in recent weeks—so stay tuned for these important changes!
This change is being instituted for several reasons. The most important cards being developed for the 12/7 release were not lining up thematically with what design had planned for the Galaxy at War release. Therefore, it was felt that the thematic Galaxy at War release could be pushed back without significant consequence. Additionally, since many of the Galaxy at War cards were planned to have larger, broader impacts, the PC felt that additional time would ensure thorough playtesting and proper balancing.
One interesting thing to note is the obvious advantage to the block format has to what had previously been implemented. It allows us to have the flexibility to push back cards like this into the next block without consequence (like being rushed through proofing or PT-ing) and without compromising the quality and playability of those cards.
In fact, since the internal teams have access to the cards that are planned to be released throughout the year, this will not impact any internal processes very much at all.
We feel bad that we basically had to cut Galaxy at War from the “planned” Galaxy at War release, but felt that it simply made more sense to follow the natural progression of these internal processes rather than to force them to conform to a pre-defined series of dates and deadlines. Galaxy at War will release, as intended, but at a time which will allow all internal goals to be sufficiently met. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused, but feel that this is truly what is best for the game (and we hope that you will agree once you have the finished products).
ANNOUNCEMENT: Galaxy At War – Block 1 Release
Posted by Rogue4 @ 10:03am Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 [ permalink ]
The next virtual release, Galaxy At War, will be on December 7th. (Cards will be tournament legal December 21st).
We will be releasing some spoilers in the coming weeks, so keep a lookout in all those special places, like decktech, the blogs, the premium forums, twitter, facebook, and all those obscure locations that nobody ever reads (like the main page).
This set will be roughly 25-30 cards for each allegiance, is designed to address many of the concerns that we’ve seen players express post-worlds and will hopefully restore balance between the sides of the Force.
Players can be sure to expect new strategies and for some lesser played decktypes to receive much-needed boosts. You may or may not be seeing such things like new republic space options, incentives for non-matching weapons, random pilots, capital starships, and even cards for the Trade Federation in the near future!
Errata Revision for Leia, Rebel Princess
Posted by Rogue4 @ 10:24am Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 [ permalink ]
Effective immediately, Leia, Rebel Princess’s errata will be a bottom template only. While the original errata did accomplish the intended effects of bringing power levels back in line with current design protocols for “mains,” it has been found that such a change is simply infeasible to implement.
(A) Logistically, having a lower errata slip for decipher cards are just better for ease of memory. (B) Additionally, based on past precendent, we are going to continue to avoid full template slips of decipher errata (see Limited Resources as unique, Beru Stew as two of the exceptions). When it comes to top sections of the card, it has been decided that it is just easier to leave that alone becuase the game has enough memory issues. So without further ado, the only errata to Leia, Rebel Princess is as follows:
Leia, Rebel Princess 3:
Text: Twice per game, may place top card of Lost Pile on top of Reserve Deck to cancel a Force drain at a related site. Unless opponent’s non-alien character here, opponent’s total ability at same site = 0. Immune to attrition < 5 if with Luke, Han or Jabba.
Furthermore, we would like to announce that we are working on creating a pdf of the most common decipher card errata. Things like Hidden Base, Beru Stew, Floating Refinery, Thok & Thug, Lando Scoundrel, etc will all be on that one pdf.
I would like to apologize for any confusion that this has created. Despite the best intentions, sometimes well-meaning changes just don’t work out as intended.
A big “Thank you” to everyone for understanding and bearing with the PC through the past couple months.
New World Champion
Posted by MAVanDriel @ 5:37pm Sunday, October 11th, 2009 [ permalink ]
After two days of play, and 12 games of star wars, two legends of the game – each without a World Championship to their credit – met in a final confrontation to see who would finally earn that coveted award. Brian Hunter prevailed, winning both games of the finals over Justin Desai to become the 2009 World Champion. Congratulations to Brian, and to all who played in the 14th World Championship.
